Melissa Keefer – Missions Coordinator

Melissa is a registered nurse and she lives in Alachua with her husband, Jim, a dog, 2 indoor cats and a growing collection of outdoor cats. She has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Anthropology. She has a unique and passionate heart for missions. Melissa’s philosophy for Missions is that we should never do missions TO people, but WITH people, through partnerships that create lasting impact. The goal is to connect with people and organizations that empower those they serve to create long term change. She is looking forward to building relationships at the local, national, and international level. Come talk to her about what you’re passionate about doing and who you want to serve!

Favorite quote: “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18, NIV). Thinking of love as an action puts a new spin on the idea of loving our neighbors as ourselves. I strive to do this but fall short often!”

Favorite movie: “Out of Africa”

If you could meet one famous person (other than Jesus or Bible characters) who would it be and why? “Keanu Reeves, not just because he’s my Hollywood crush, but because maybe I could get some funding from his foundation for Family Promise.”
